Apache helping to fuel rescues across the North

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) has agreed a corporate partnership with an oil and gas exploration and production company to support the continued delivery of their life-saving service.

Apache Corporation, which has U.K. headquarters in Aberdeen, has donated £50,000 to GNAAS providing a significant contribution to the charity’s fuel costs.

This is the largest ever single donation from a corporate supporter, securing Apache’s position as a gold level corporate partner of GNAAS.

In recognition of the support, Apache’s logo has been unveiled on one of the charity’s helicopters that attend rescues across the North of England and further afield to support large scale incidents across the country.

The logo is featured on both of the main side doors of GNAAS’ helicopter, called the Guardian of the North II, which is based near Eaglescliffe in the North East.

Last year the charity’s critical care team, which includes pilots, doctors and paramedics responded to 2,083 incidents across the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

It is expected they will be called out to a similar number of incidents this year, meaning potentially tens of thousands of people will view the Apache logo on the helicopter.

Ben Sisson, CSR and philanthropy specialist at GNAAS said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Apache for their incredible donation. Seeing their logo on the helicopter is a huge stepping stone for our Corporate Partner scheme, and we’re looking forward to building a positive working relationship with Apache.

“As a charity, we do not receive government funding and need to raise £9.3m a year to remain operational, which is a huge task.

“The donation of £50,000 from Apache is greatly appreciated and we hope they feel proud knowing that their contribution will enable our critical care teams to continue helping severely ill or injured patients across the region.”

Greg McDaniel, senior vice president, international assets at Apache added: “Community wellbeing is one of our key pillars and we support partners who align with our values to address the acute needs in the geographic areas where we live and operate.

“Supporting local first responders and emergency services ensures that everyone in our communities can benefit from receiving critical care in their time of need and the outstanding service that the team at GNAAS provides helps save countless lives in the community every year. We are honored to support this essential service as their ability to respond rapidly to incidents, large and small, can make a real difference in life threatening situations.”
